I GOT A BRAND NEW PAIR OF ROLLERSKATESy o u g o t b r a n d n e w k e y Ren's excitement was barely contained as she anxiously waited for her last class of the day to end. She'd been informed last week she had been accepted as a jammer for the school's roller derby team and everything in her was itching to go skate. Her science teacher cleared his throat and she raised her eyes from where she'd been absently staring at the clock, her foot tapping the floor in a burst of energy. He raised an eyebrow and she sighed, giving a low groan and thunking her head down on the top of the desk. She tried her best to pay attention to her teacher but her A.D.D was particularly bad today and she could barely focus. She might as well have been learning Latin!
She passed a note to one of the girls who she was on the team with stating she needed something fun to do, and was about to die of boredom. She got a note back saying her teammate had it all covered. Suddenly a fire alarm went off and the teacher reluctantly led the students outside to the safe zone. The whole school was piling outside and stood around while the dean tried to figure out what was going on. She saw one of the roller girls high-fiving another one with a mischievous smirk. Ren broke into a girl and headed away from the group to talk to a few kids she knew. Her big brother was standing around with one of the Kings and she took a running headfirst lunge into his arms. He grabbed her as her skull made contact with his ribs and he yelled out. She gave an impish grin and hung onto him while he talked until it was time to go back inside.
Thankfully the fire drill had taken up the remainder of her class and her feet couldn't carry her fast enough to the girl's bathroom. She slipped inside and huddled up in a stall, quickly changing out of her school clothes and into her skate clothes. She wiggled into a pair of black spandex shorts with rainbow ruffles on the seat and a white tanktop with a rainbow, leopard print heart on it. She slipped on a pair of knee-high rainbow socks and her padding before lacing up her roller skates tightly. After running a brush through her messy, rainbow colored hair she tossed everything into a rainbow backpack and flew from the bathroom.
She knew she was probably breaking a rule by rollerskating in the middle of the school's hallways, but she was so excited she honestly didn't care. She gracefully wove her way through the herd of students, using it as another practice method. She came around the corner and flew straight into Cecilia Bloom. She was shoved backwards and barely regained her footing, clinging onto the lockers to keep from falling. She got a glare and a few nasty names, but instead of cowering she mumbled and apology and continued on her way, not bothering to even look back. As she arrived in the gym she got everything set up for practice and began her rounds around the tape on the floor.
She got with the team and worked on her movements, getting elbowed once in the collarbone, and increased her jamming time by fifteen percent! After about fifteen minutes of skating she headed into the commons area of the gym and got herself a coke, leaning against the wall while she drank it and keeping her eyes peeled for anyone interesting, including Cecilia's often bitchy posse.

Just keep walking, don't look down, turn that frown upside down. Keep on rolling, don't stop now... don't stop... Lily wrinkled her nose in disgust, she couldn't begin to think of anything cheesier than the lyrics she'd been working on all day. She'd probably end up scraping it, and then fleeing back to those same words when nothing else worked. Making music, actually, making good music took more effort than it should. It took a lot more effort than it should. Suddenly Lily was distracted from herself when a flash of rainbow was seen, or sensed in her peripheral. She looked up from the floor, where she had been staring with concentration at, and saw the most peculiar girl.
Peculiar indeed, but Lily didn't use it as a deragatory term, on the contrary she loved the girl's style. It was so bright... so vivid and cheerful. I. Must. Meet. Her. Lily thought as she skipped over, wearing her knee-socks, converse, jean shorts, and white baggy blouse. "Hiya. May I just say, I lovelovelove your hair?" She paused for a moment, as if waiting for a yes or no, and then bulldozed on anyways, "Well, Imma say it anyways! I lovelovelove your hair, and your outfit! It's.... it's so rainbow...y... Yeah, rainbowy..." She looked up, puzzled by the word that was obviously not a word.
Lily, with her mane of fiery red hair turned back to the decked out girl, "I'm Lily by the way! And who are you?" She had a cheery smile, warm and friendly plastered on her face, and it was definitely not fake.
ooc;; this post is slightly failing at life, and it is short, but I got it down .-.

I GOT A BRAND NEW PAIR OF ROLLERSKATESy o u g o t b r a n d n e w k e y Ren had been working so hard at her jamming time and her speed. She was getting better, slowly but surely, and had plans to try out for Junior Derby in the spring. She wanted this roller derby thing so bad. It gave her a sense of accomplishment and made her feel like she could protect herself if she had to. Never again would someone get the opportunity to take advantage of her like Paul had. Things would be different now, and if success was the best revenge she was doing alright. She’d scored a summer internship with All The Queen’s Men to learn the ins and outs of the drag and cabaret business, she was lead jammer for the school’s roller derby team, was passing all but her math classes (which she was only two points away from a nice D), and had a lovely group of friends. Yes, she was definitely succeeding.
Even the bitchiness of the Queens and their Plastics servants, or the rude comments she got on a daily basis now that the Paul thing had come to light didn’t keep her down! She had roller derby, had a purpose, and she was damn good at it! She finished up her coke and dropped the can in the recycle bin before practicing a few trick skating things. She skated backwards, on one leg, did a few sharp turns and practiced her stops. Ren took her iPod out and plugged in a little mini speaker shaped like, yep you guessed it, a rainbow that blared I’m Coming Out by Diana Ross through the commons area. She began dancing around on her skates, doing a spin here and there for effect. After a while she had just about gotten her excess energy out and shut off her iPod before dropping it back in her bag. As she turned back around she spotted a wild-haired girl heading her way. Ren broke into a cheerful smile as the girl came over.
”Thanks! I love your hair, too! And your clothes. Ohmigod, your style is so cool!” Ren gushed excitedly, flailing her arms, ”Pleasure to meet you, Lily! I’m Ren!”
It was nice to have someone come up and be so friendly to her. Maybe she could wrangle this one into the roller derby, too! It’d be nice to have another small girl on the team. She beamed excitedly as she grabbed two Red Bulls from her bag and held one out to the girl. It wasn’t uncommon for Ren to go through several of these in one day, despite the warnings on the label.
”Red Bull?” She asked as she cracked her own open.
