It was that time of year again, the annual fair was back in Dynasty for the week. Bryce went every year, usually with his brothers and sometimes Kristie would tag along too. This year was a little different though. Bryce had gone with a couple of friends from the football team, and then was going to be meeting Kristie there. He hadn't bothered seeing if Julian wanted to come because things hadn't been going very well between them lately, and he figured Kristopher just wouldn't want to go. Besides, Bryce wanted to spend some time doing something with kristie other than hanging around the dorms. In the late morning Bryce had gone on a few rides and eaten some fried food. It was getting around two in the afternoon now, and he had made plans to meet Kristie by the scrambler. The two had always gone on that one together growing up, arguing on who got to sit on the inside and who got to sit on the outside and get squished. Obviously this year would be different, Kristie wouldn't be able to go on any of those rides that would jerk her around like that. Bryce stood outside of the ride, his hands in the pockets of his shorts as he gazed around the crowded area. He casually took out his phone and shot her a text 'it's two o'clock and I don't see your beautiful face anywhere. Forget about me?' he hit the send button, it was meant to be a teasing sort of text, and then let it slide back into the pocket of his shorts. It was still relatively warm for the fall, and he knew that even if Kristie couldn't do everything they used to when they would come they would still have a good time. tagged: kristie / abbi outfit: click!notes: love them <3

kristie had been asleep all day, though she rather thought that she deserved a little break from everything. she had been woken up about eleven by her phone's alarm, alerting her she'd had plenty of rest - completely debatable from her point of view of course. she sat up, her abdomen cramping, and cursed a small amount under her breath before pulling her hair out of the disheveled and slept in bun atop her head, and planting her feet on the floor in direction of the shower. she hummed along to her blaring ihome letting the water run over her, washing away the fitful sleep she'd had last night. she'd been dreaming again, weird dreams, too.
after showering, she began rummaging through her closet for an outfit that wouldn't make her slowly growing stomach quite so noticeable. she was getting quite a bit bigger, and it was very early on in her pregnancy, which sort of freaked her out. she'd never been an overweight child, simply healthy and now she was going to be like all those others waddling around campus. she sighed, oh well, 'least she had an excuse.
it was near two as she walked towards downtown, headed to the square. she was more than a little thankful that it was cooling off, especially because of the afternoon soon that was so blatantly beating down on her. she grimaced a little, thinking about her make up that would certainly be smeared once she met up with bryce, and decided next time she'd drive. usually, it was no big deal. kristie and bryce ran all the time; she ran mile after endless mile with him, matching him pace for pace, step for step. and now, she was tiring out during a simple few blocks? this pregnancy thing really was starting to suck ass. or at least the physical side of it.
her iphone dinged, alerting her of an incoming text. she pulled it out of her pocket and smiled, tapping out a quick 'never(: ...I don't see yours either, babe. where are you?' as she paid her way through the gate. the fair grounds were already littered with whiny children, hot from an afternoon of fun in the sun, spilled popcorn, and sweaty vendors eager to peddle their goods. the smell of delicious fried foods smacked her senses and she found herself wandering towards a corn dog stand. she was going to be gaining weight anyhow, and she hadn't eaten today, so why not indulge?
she was finishing off her last bite of her grande sized mustard ancd ketchup smothered corn dog when she noticed an all too familiar mess of curly hair. she grinned, ditching the leftover stick in the nearest trash bin, and ran up behind him, standing on her tip toes to put her hands over his eyes. she knew it hadn't been long at all since she'd seen him, but with bryce sometimes hours felt like days. "guess who?" she grinned widely, waiting on his reaction. how many others really did this to him though?
she's wearing this, and I apologize for the sucking...and I love them :D and you <3 lol

Bryce stayed where he was in front of the ride where they had decided to meet each other. He didn't mind waiting, he knew that she had been feeling overwhelmingly tired lately. Whenever he slept over (which ended up being more often than not lately) he would wake up quite a while earlier than her, and it wouldn't even be that early in the morning. The thing was, Bryce didn't mind laying there with her until she woke up or even attempting at making them breakfast, even if it was just toast and scrambled eggs. He tried. The whole pregnancy thing was confusing as hell to him. So confusing that he had even gone out and bought a book about it. After reading half of the first chapter he had ended up setting it down in Kristie's dorm and not picking it up since. Maybe he would, but he figured he would get it all eventually. He could barely notice the change in Kristie during the day when she was dressed normally. He could notice it more at night when he would slip his arm around her in bed, and feel the slight roundness to her stomach. He thought it was still early for her to be showing, but then again what did he really know about it? They hadn't discussed that in the first fifteen pages of the book. When a pair of hands covered his eyes he knew who it was, no guessing necessary. His hands covered the tops of hers and pulled them from his face. He let go briefly to turn around and face her, also smiling. It had been weird how quickly Bryce went from having her as just a friend to really falling for this girl. The idea of having a baby with her didn't seem as scary when he thought about it anymore, and he liked spending most his time with her when he wasn't at football practice or games. "Slowpoke." he muttered to her, still smiling. He leaned forward and gave her a quick kiss, holding his lips against hers for only a moment. He had always been weird about pda and would rather save things like that for their own time. He held her hands in his though as he spoke "Did you sleep good? You were fast asleep when I left this morning." He had snuck out of the room earlier in the day to get in a quick workout before headed to the fair. She hadn't even given the slightest hint of waking when he had left, and he was careful to let her get her sleep. tagged: kristie / abbi outfit: click!notes: it did not suck ;p sorry mine do though xD

kristie grinned, her hand fitting into his perfectly. "I'm not slow, I'm pregnant." she pouted a little, but couldn't hold it long. her smile spread back over her face. bryce did that to her. gave her butterflies, made her feel safe, and worst of all? made her smile like a complete dork. which she hadn't really worried about before. she'd never taken any of her past relationships very far, and hadn't cared to keep them going too much, obviously. the guys had been bland, mediocre in attractiveness, and well...they'd just never been quite what she was looking for. and then there was her best friend, who she'd always had a complete and utter school girl crush on. and now, they were having a kid, and trying. really trying. she knew he was, she could tell something between them had changed, something in bryce had changed. he was sending her more and more cute texts, staying over later, and leaving less. he was going grocery shopping with her, nagging her about la mas classes, and making her breakfast. he had practically moved in, and she didn't care one bit. she hadn't even cared about packing up her some of her things so he could have some of his there.
she kissed him back, knowing pda still, no matter the change in their relationship status wasn't either of them really, and pushed her sunglasses up on the bridge of her nose. "yeah, I seem to be in like, hibernation mode." she laughed a little, and then looked around. "shouldn't you be with the guys?" she asked, wondering how much of his time he'd been giving up with the guys to spend with her lately. he was over more nights than not -not that she was going to complain about that.

"Slow and pregnant" Bryce said again. He watched the pout on her face turn into a smile and couldn't help but also smile. It was still hard for him to believe that it had taken him this long to realize that maybe all along he had wanted to be with Kristie too. People had always told them that they would be cute together and he usually just brushed it off. She is just my friend. She is like a sister to me he would always tell people when they asked. It was funny how things could change so drastically so fast. Bryce was happy though, and he could tell and hoped that Kristie was happy too. Bryce turned so that he was next to her, still holding her hand as they began to walk slowly and aimlessly. He shook his head at her question "I was with them earlier, they'll be okay without me." He paused, letting go of her hand and instead putting his arm around her side, them walking a little bit more closely this way "Besides, we always come to the fair together. It's nice to have it be just us this time around." he said. Usually when they came it was with the whole crew, Julian and sometimes Kristopher included. It was different to have it be just them for once, but he didn't mind it at all. Most of the time they got to spend by themselves together was usually at night, which wasn't a bad thing, but it would be nice to spend their time together during the day doing something. tagged: kristie / abbi outfit: click!notes: it did not suck ;p sorry mine do though xD

kristie's mouth opened, and she tried to act hurt, but it was so hard for her to mad at bryce. it always had been, especially considering her major crush on him. they had never been the kind of friends to fight anyhow. he was one of the people she was herself around the most as of late, and now that julian was off at some hospital or treatment place she was very thankful for that. bryce had truly stepped up and started being there once all of he initial shock had passed -not that the shock of having a baby with your best friend could ever truly go away she guessed. but melodrama had subsided, with him at least. he was staying over, and it seemed he was happy. so why was she still afraid that he was just around til the paternity test was over? she knew her best friend, she knew he wasn't like that, and she knew that no matter what he'd always be there...but kristie wanted him to be there in more than a platonic way, and she always had been. when they'd brushed off strangers saying they were a cute couple, rumours about their dating that had started back before junior high even, she never could help but feel a little disappointed that neither of them had ever given it an honest go of it. but things were different now, they were different now. weren't they? would she lose him, if it wasn't his? she couldn't see julian backing offf, and she hated their bickering. julian seemed to make her blood pressure soar through the roof lately, and nothing else. so why did she miss him? and why was she trying to get the two to get along so often? she withheld a sigh, and narrowed her eyes at bryce, playfully. she didn't want him thinking that something was wrong, especially when they were finally going to have a day out together. and julian was most definitely the wrong subject to address when they were trying to relax.
she turned and began to walk with him, her fingers intertwined with his. she gave his hand a small squeeze, "you sure?" she teased. she'd always teased him about him and his bromance's with his teammates. once, she'd went as far as to tell him he didn't even need a girl since he spent so much time with them. she'd always told him it was okay if he were gay, she'd still be his best friend, but in the end they had both found out that bryce was very clearly straight. she was looking around, still thinking about julian, when she began to notice she wouldn't be able to ride most of the rides this year. she let out a sigh, and whined for a minute "aww man..." she really loved the fall, and the fair, and she'd looked so forward to going with bryce this year. especially as his girlfriend -even if it was a weird thought for her. not foreign, and definitely not daydreamed of a time or two, but still a little new. "I can't ride anything." she pouted a little more, but there was really nothing she could do about it. "the ferris wheel, maybe?" she said, turning to look for it. it had to be one of her favourites, and it couldn't be that bad, could it? she knew she couldn't ride the tilt-a-whirl, or the scrambler or anything of that nature, but the ferris wheel seemed so harmless. and a tad bit romantic.

Bryce just smiled at Kristie's pretend 'hurt' face. He knew she was just trying to kid around, it was funny how they never actually fought. The truth was that Bryce didn't usually fight with anyone, he'd rather waste that energy on something else. That was the reason why he hated fighting with Julian, it just seemed so unavoidable. "I'm positive." Bryce reassured her, surprised there was no gay joke along with it. She was always teasing him, locker room and butt smacking jokes. He didn't mind it though, it was true maybe he did have a slight bromance with some of his friends, but he liked the time he got to spend with Kristie too. Besides, lately his friends were just bothering him more and more about everything with Kristie. They kept asking him questions, like if he knew if he was the father yet or what it felt like to 'knock up' a girl in high school. He just wanted to get away from that for a while.
It was a strange feeling, really. Like he knew that he got Kristie pregnant, or thought he knew at least, but it still didn't seem 100% real yet. There were some small changes in Kristie, and changes in their general relationship, but it still wasn't full blown hitting him yet. The entire ordeal was just so out there from Bryces usually organized life. Before all he worried about was football and school work, with some goofing off in between the seriousness. Now Kristie was added to that list, and the soon to be baby, if it was in fact his. Whenever someone brought up the paternity test he got a pit in his stomach, but he always tried to act like it didn't bother him. He just wasn't sure how everything would play out if it wasn't his, and that scared him. Bryce snapped out of his thoughts when Kristie came to a realization that she couldn't get on all the usual rides. "Hey, that's alright." he let out, trying to make her feel better. He felt her squeeze his hand, and he gave a small squeeze back in return "The ferris wheel sounds great, I haven't been on that one yet." he dug into his pocket, pulling out a trail of leftover ride tickets that he hadn't used up.
He ripped off four and handed them to the weird looking guy that was operating the ride. He stopped the ride for them to get on. Bryce slid onto the seat first and when kristie sat put his arm around her shoulders. The ferris wheel was definitely more of a romantic ride, not usually one you would ride along with your guy friends.

kristie felt bryce's squeeze of reassurance on her hand, and smiled, unable to help the tugging at the corners of her mouth. she couldn't help but be happy around him. he didn't freak out on her, was overly considerate and after all of it, still her best friend. she walked with him towards the ferris wheel, holding her right arm up to the man who was working the ride, showing him her arm band and climbed on after bryce. he'd put an arm around her, and she couldn't help but feel her stomach flip a little. she was reminding herself to breath when she felt the sudden jolt of the ride begin, and heard the roar of its old engine. kristie leaned into him, taking in the usual and home like scent that was always on bryce and closed her eyes.
when she opened them again, they had stopped at the very top -which didn't usually happen on your first rotation; she breathed out a sigh that'd been weighing her down. she loved it high above everyone, and everything. there, in the little lift seat with bryce, it was almost as if it were just the two of them, and nothing else. as if all of their problems had faded into the background for a minute or two. she looked at him, wondering what was on his mind. he always seemed so calm, so held together ; sans before he'd accepted the pregnancy and julian spilling the details about their short and sordid affair. but after all of that, and working through it, he'd been her rock. holding her hair back when she had morning sickness, getting her her weird cravings, and even putting up with her whining about being fat. she reached out and ran her fingers through his curly hair; you couldn't really mess it up, or fix it. she smiled when it bounced back into place, and then, breaking the spell and the silence, the familiar jolt and obnoxious sound of the engine started, and they were off again.
