The year is 1993 and the Club Kids of NYC are in full swing. The great, underrated Grunge band Nirvana has been riding the slow ride to fame since their 1991 release of Incesticide, despite the glaring reviews from critics that it will be a flop. The Goths are still going strong in the little cafes and graveyards around the US while the Punks and Metalheads are still mourning the losses of the great artists like Sid Vicious and Per Yngve 'Dead' Ohlin. The Skate Rats are running the streets and the rich just keep on getting richer. It seems the world isn't slowing down for the loud, fast paced youth storming their streets (and in the case of the Club Kids, your McDonalds!).
But one little town in NY has managed to keep their town and youth from being corrupted by these fads and trends infecting kids and stealing them into what is termed 'drug riddled, crime filled lifestyles'. The sleepy, deeply religious town of Falls Church, NY sits just far enough outside of the town of NYC to be considered 'rural' and has yet to see all the horrors the various social groups bring along with them. The leader of the local Baptist church, Derrick Faythe, regularly preaches hellfire and brimstone for those who go to join the ranks of these heath'n masses. Little does he know just what's going on in his own home. He apparently forgot the little anecdote that people in glass houses shouldn't throw stones.
His daughter, Becca, is an impressionable junior with big city dreams and a fascination for the dead and undead. Her former hippie mother who was far more open minded than her father allowed her to indulge in horror movies and Halloween obsessions since childhood that has led the girl into the Goth lifestyle. As she stares at the images on her TV and obsessively listens to Morrisey and The Cure other kids are beginning to fall in love with the grandeur presented to them by the various scenes of NYC. Becca has a dream to chase the lights in NYC and become a world-famous author. Lili Mirren is a dumb blonde who's only ever learned to use her looks to get by, and after seeing Madonna perform she's begun searching for something bigger than her boring life. And Landon Hartline has long been known for being a womanizer and the star of the football team since sophomore year. But he's secretly hiding the fact he's a homosexual who wants nothing more than to become an actor instead of playing football. The seed of corruption runs deeper in the veins of this small town than anyone realized.
Recently the thing the school board and town of Falls Church has dreaded is coming true. Pending a lawsuit from a the parents of a wealthy Club Kid, the town has been forced to open it's doors to anyone and everyone. The groups who were said to bring the destruction of the town are now inhabiting every nook and cranny of Falls Church. This will be an experience that will either prove to be a stepping stone of tolerance... or the first sign of Falls Church's last days. Either way, many of the kids are taking up a common anthem; That's me in the corner, losing my religion.
