He's been that way for as long as he could remember, though. He was born in LA, but his father moved the family to Omaha, Nebraska when he was three months old. This is where Chris grew from a baby to a thirteen year old, entering drama classes from age four and being involved in various artsy-type things with his mother, while struggling to be the masculine son his father tried to force him to be. When he was discovered to have asthma when he was six, sports quickly became a thing of the past and he focused on art and also helping his mother who was a seamstress. At fourteen his family moved back to LA and he began his freshman year of high school. It was about this time he really got active in the drama group at his school since he was so flamboyant and awkward. This brought out his dramatic, neurotic side more and more which actually proved to be a help to him. This is also when he met his best friend Raul. Raul was doing set design for the play Chris was going to be in and Chris had just had a messy breakup with a girlfriend. He stormed onto the step and tripped over a paint can, sending it flying everywhere, including all over him. As he sat covered in sky blue paint and sobbing hysterically at both how bad his ankle hurt and how bad his life sucked, Raul came running over dressed in the oddest outfit Chris had ever seen. Raul was wearing some sort of skirt thing over a pair of tight pants and a dashiki top with these flowers braided into his hair. Chris started laughing at how ridiculous the boy looked, and Raul snorted and commented how much Chris looked like grumpy smurf. The two started laughing together and just sort of... clicked. As he got older he began to realize he was gay. He just wasn't attracted to girls, no matter how hard he tried to be, and when it came time to perform he 'fell short'. But when he was in the boys locker room he often came back to life, so to speak. He eventually came out to Raul at sixteen, who himself was openly bisexual, and was accepted. Raul helped him come to terms with being homosexual and sat with him while he came out to his mother at seventeen. She was accepting enough although she warned him not to say anything to his father. Two weeks after graduation he was prepping to go up north for school and sat at the table with his parents. His father made a joke about him bringing a girl home with him for the next break and that's when he came out. His father stopped in the middle of eating and stood up, leaving the table. For the next two weeks he didn't speak to Chris at all. Chris was hurt, broken-hearted over his father's shunning behavior but did his best to continue on with his life. He couldn't change how he was born after all. The night before he and Raul were set to leave for college he heard his mother and father arguing in the hallway. His mother was telling him that he couldn't run from Chris being homosexual forever, and his father replied with "Well, I don't have to be around it either." That was it, his father's final rejection. After he left for college he spent the first two years basically not doing much past being involved heavily with the theater kids and taking useless classes. It wasn't until he was twenty that he finally decided what he wanted to do. Having a passion for writing his whole life as well as British Literature, he went into teaching. Raul was also interesting in teaching. His final year he and Raul were sent to Dynasty Prep to do their TA training and met Marie, then eventually Marie's husband Iakov. Iakov and Chris became close and after Iakov confessed he was gay, but staying with Marie for her mental health, the two began a no-strings-attached affair that evolved to Chris falling in love with Iakov. Marie, who had had a miscarriage and a lot of emotional baggage, started up her own affair with Raul who is in love with Chris. Chris is a really sweet guy who is neurotic at times and a drama queen. He takes things too seriously and is a worrier who constantly second-guesses himself except when it comes to fashion and drama. He began teaching at Dynasty where he's now the British Lit teacher and all his students both love him and find him ridiculous. He's always trying to make a good impression on people and is extremely led by his emotions. It's not uncommon for him to become over stressed and recluse from people. He's also a bit of a hopeless romantic. He'll need a lot of friends who will be there to support him when he gets all over-emotional, some enemies to mock him, and as for lovers, he's having an affair currently but appears single. So maybe someone nice to come in and baby him till things pan out. |
