the cafe in dynasty's prep wasn't all that busy today, and nothing seemed to be that appealing to anna robertson today as she was feeling the morning sickness, even if it was after noon by now. everything in anna's life was spinning, and turning upside down for her, and she wasn't even sure where to start to explain her life anymore. her mother had left her even before she could manage to walk, her brother was so anti social lately, and she wasn't even sure. her father was barely there, and when he was, he showered her with everything to make up for the loss time that he had missed of his two children's life. anna's life had always been complicated, and since the rumor's room her life had really gotten even more complicated for her. her feelings for a teacher had to be constanly in secret, and the pregnancy had to even more hidden, but she was scared of what would happen when she started to show, and not one boyfriend was ever known to the school in anna's life. anna's emotions were running everywhere lately, with everything going on, and her hormones from the pregnancy was just running everything everywhere lately. her head felt like it was constanly battling itself with all the commotion of thoughts that went through her mind daily.
anna's sparkling blue eyes looked around the cafe before she sat down in her normal seat by the big bay window, and started to stare out the window. this side of the campus faced the courtyard, and anna always had a love for dynasty's courtyard, and the pretty fall colors that were finally hitting around dynasty. as she stared off at the scenery before her, she seemed to forget about the life that she was living in lately, and she smiled. it made her feel at home to be surrounded by the colors of the leaves changing, and the crisp air seeping through the windows. she looked down at the table, and looking straight at her french homework. oh, alixandre was something else. Everything about him screamed odd, and anna loved it. she loved the sense he gave her, she loved the charming ways that he was, and how he could make her feel so wanted with so little time in a day. but, of course anna had to hide all of those feelings.
she lifted her right arm, pulling her loose strands of black hair behind her ears before lifting her french book out of her bag beside her on the bench. she opened up to the page, and then went to the chapter she was on in class. everything with french didn't make sense to her, at all. she moved slowly reading every line word by word, trying to make sense of this subject that made no sense to her. she wished alix was here to help her right now, because of course, alix had a way of explaining things to make you not feel dumb, and to make it make sense too. Anna's eyes lifted up to the window from the book, glazing out at the fall scenery that had fallen in dynasty the last week and a half. her break was over in an hour, and she had to use this time to study, and stop paying attention to everything else besides her studying. she slipped out her cell phone out of her pocket, searching for alix's number, and hitting 'text'.
she typed out a text letting alix know where she was, and then saying that she was trying to study for his class, and the test coming up, but she was failing by a long shot. she soon ended the text, and slipped it back in her pocket, and continued to stare blankly at the book. this french stuff didn't make sense to her brain, and she was getting mad. her hormones were all over the place, and she was just about done with everything. she moved her back, and then moved around. oh man she really could go for a massage too, because with everything growing, and the extra weight that her body was putting on, she wasn't used to all of this on her body. she slipped her slippers off her feet and then crossed her feet under the table. her mouth moved as she slipped her tongue out of her mouth, and moved around to lick her dry lips.
the one thing she really hated about this weather was the fact that everything made her body change, and she sighed lightly at the thought of winter coming. her eyes moved up to the leaves after she was thinking of the seasons changing again. she smiled, and looked at each detail. anna would love to paint what she saw right now, but of course that wasn't possible. her blue eyes made their way back down to the book, and changed the page before she screamed about this nonsense on the page. she sighed out, before starting to read the paragraph before her.

Alix’s week had been long and draining. Sarafina had finally gotten over her flu, though the illness was one that he had to attend to far too often since Jeordie seemed to be sick himself lately. The raging pregnancy hormones that Lili had been experiencing had caused her to be even more moody than before and had left Alix quite literally walking around a time bomb. The littlest thing set her off and people had begun questioning her as to who the father was. She had to lie and say it was an ex-boyfriend back in NYC who she’d seen over summer break. Alix was proud she was doing all she could to keep the public from knowing the truth but that didn’t stop her blaming him for everything related to her pregnancy when he was home. And given her state he couldn’t punish her. He would never lay a hand on a pregnant Follower.
”AND YOU CAN SHOVE THAT UP YOUR ASS TOO, ALIX!” Lili screamed as a plate sailed past Alix’s head and exploded in shards as it hit the wall beside his head. Alix ducked as another plate sailed over his head and smashed on the floor. Damnit, what was her problem?! Alix quickly skirted Leyla who was getting up to go deal with the out of control girl. Bless her, she was the matriarchal figure in this house for a good reason. She was so good with these poor girls, even if Alix knew how jealous the fact Angelique being pregnant made her. He headed upstairs to change his shirt (now stained with coffee after the temper tantrum) and grab his things for class.
As he sat on his bed with his face in his hands he heard the padding of feet coming towards the door. As it squeaked open he felt little hands touching his arm and pulling on his sleeve. When he raised his head he saw Sarafina standing there holding her stuffed rabbit and sucking her thumb. Another child he had who was not all there, Sarafina was nine but had the mental competency of a four or five year old. Some days it seemed she was even younger than that. Being malnourished by her former parent had left her being extremely smaller than her peers anyway. This is why he had Leyla handle her homeschooling in the mornings and Jeordie come straight after work around 3 to finish up. During the day Sarafina was kept busy with a plethora of toys in her basement bedroom, which would soon be moved to one of the real bedrooms and had Rita watch her. ”Daddy, are you okay?” She asked in her small voice. He nodded and picked her up, setting her in his lap and kissing her temple. As he smoothed down her hair Rita came in to get the child. Alix held up a hand and shooed Rita away.
The little one’s dark hair and deep, brown eyes sparkled as he held her and rocked her. After a while she seemed to finally give up fighting the exhaustion she surely had to be feeling from being so sick. Alix carefully stood up and carried her back downstairs and to her basement room where he tucked her in and turned off the light before locking the door and quickly going to change. After he put on a clean shirt and left a note for Jeordie to take the white dress shirt to the dry cleaners, he slipped on his blazer and peacoat and left the house. Alix drove over to the school and parked. This was going to be a long, long day.
After four hours of classes and incompetent kids, as well as sending Cecilia Bloom to the principal’s office again for being dressed inappropriately for his class, he was famished. His phone buzzed in his blazer pocket and as he pulled it out he broke into a small smile. Anna was texting him and asking to meet him to study for his test. Of course he’d been boosting her grade slightly claiming she’d been doing extra credit work with him, but he still expected her to get a good education. Besides, he wanted all his children to speak his native tongue fluently. He grabbed his briefcase and his travel mug and headed down the hallway to the café that seemed to be buzzing with activity today. He went through the lunch line and got a double portion of chicken nuggets and some jell-o before purchasing a Ginger Ale for Anna and more coffee for himself. Balancing all his things he spotted Anna’s dark curls from across the room. He headed over and slipped the tray on the table between them, settling down and removing his peacoat and blazer. He handed over the bottle of Ginger Ale to Anna and smiled at her.
”I figured this might help settle your stomach. I don’t know if you’ve been having morning sickness, but Lili was extremely sick her first trimester.” He said in his deep, gravelly tone. words; 842
